The Rusk Diet is a mono diet that aims to lose weight as quickly and as much as possible. Some claim that you can lose up to 15 pounds in 7 days. Calorie intake is greatly reduced and the focus is on small portions of low calorie meals.

The sour cream contains 10 percent fat. It is said to help soften the hard dough when the rusks are dipped in it.

Why you can lose weight so fast with the Rusk Diet

Rusks are good for a diet because they are a whole food. Rusks contain mainly carbohydrates and fiber, but also a lot of protein. This gives you a good basis for a fit day despite the diet.

Below is a sample 7-day diet plan for the Rusk Diet. Drink plenty of water or unsweetened tea with each meal. Black coffee is also allowed.

Day 1

Breakfast: 1 apple, 2 pieces of toast, 50 g sour cream

Lunch: 1 orange, 4 rusks, 50 g sour cream

Dinner: 2 scrambled eggs, 2 tomatoes, 100 g mixed salad, 2 pieces of rusk

Day 2

Breakfast: 1 orange, 4 pieces of toast, 50 g sour cream

Lunch: 1 apple, 2 pieces of toast, 50 g sour cream

Dinner: 200g smoked trout, 3 tomatoes, 2 carrots, 1/2 cucumber

Day 3

Breakfast: 1 orange, 2 rusks, 50 g sour cream

Lunch: 1 apple, 4 rusks, 50 g sour cream

Dinner: 200g fillet of beef, 200g broccoli, 2 pieces of rusk

Day 4

Breakfast: 1 apple, 4 rusks, 50g sour cream

Lunch: 1 orange, 2 pieces of toast, 50g sour cream

Dinner: 200g steamed chicken breast fillet, 2 pieces of rusks, 250g boiled cauliflower

Day 5

Breakfast: 1 apple, 2 pieces of rusks, 50g sour cream

Lunch: 1 orange, 4 rusks, 50 g sour cream

Dinner: 200g steamed sea bream, 2 pieces of rusk, 300g broccoli

Day 6

Breakfast: 1 orange, 4 rusks, 50 g sour cream

Lunch: 1 apple, 2 pieces of toast, 50 g sour cream

Dinner: 200g salmon fillet, 2 pieces of rusk, 2 tomatoes, 100g mixed salad

Day 7

Breakfast: 1 apple, 2 pieces of toast, 50 g sour cream

Lunch: 1 orange, 4 rusks, 50 g sour cream

Dinner: 3 fried eggs, 2 pieces of rusk, vegetable pan of 1 bell pepper, ½

(large) onion, 100 g of zucchini and 1 tomato.
