Why does the Max Planck Diet make you lose weight so fast?

The Max Planck Diet is a strict diet with a precise weekly plan and is designed to result in significant weight loss in a short period of time.

The meals are based on a lot of protein: Meat and eggs are increasingly on the menu, while carbohydrates rich foods are the exception.

In addition, black coffee and tea are an essential part of the 7-day diet plan, which is repeated after the first week. In total, the diet lasts 2 weeks and should not be followed longer due to the severe restrictions.

It is therefore particularly suitable for people who do not want to change their diet for the long term, but primarily want to lose weight quickly.

Incidentally, the renowned Max Planck Society has nothing to do with the diet and distances itself from the concept. It is not known who really developed the diet.

This is how the Max Planck Diet works

The meal plan calls for eating only two or three times a day. The plan includes specific information about foods and quantities. The caloric intake is greatly reduced to a maximum of 800 calories per day.

In the Max Planck diet, steak, boiled ham and eggs are the main foods on the plan. Vegetables, fruit and salads are also part of the program and can be eaten in any quantity, but the choices are also very limited. Breakfast is black coffee or tea with lemon, and four days a roll is allowed.

One day a week, you are allowed to have as much plain yogurt with fruit in the evening as you like – but other than that, no dairy products are allowed. Alcohol is strictly forbidden.

This plan is for 2 weeks only. After that, eat normally again.

The 2-week Max Planck Diet Plan

Day 1

  • Breakfast: Black coffee
  • Lunch: Two boiled eggs, plus as much spinach as you like
  • Dinner: One large steak or three fried steaks, plus green salad, celery to taste

Day 2

  • Breakfast: Black coffee, served with a bun
  • Lunch: A large steak, plus a green salad, fruit to taste
  • Dinner: Cooked meat to taste

Day 3

  • Breakfast: Coffee black, without sugar and 1 roll
  • Lunch: Two boiled eggs, lettuce and tomatoes
  • Dinner: Cooked meat and green salad

Day 4

  • Breakfast: Black coffee, served with a bun
  • Lunch: One boiled egg, carrots boiled or raw and Swiss cheese to taste
  • Dinner: Fruit and natural yogurt to taste

Day 5

  • Breakfast: black coffee, plus carrots cooked or raw and lemon to taste
  • Lunch: Steamed fish, plus tomatoes to taste
  • Dinner: One large grilled steak or three fried beefsteaks, served with green salad to taste

Day 6

  • Breakfast: Black coffee, served with 1 roll
  • Lunch: Grilled chicken to taste
  • Dinner: Two boiled eggs, plus carrots to taste

Day 7

  • Breakfast: Tea with lemon
  • Lunch: One large grilled steak or three fried beefsteaks, fruit to taste
  • Dinner: your choice

From the 8th day the diet plan is repeated. The diet plan should be carried out for a maximum of 14 days. During the diet make sure to drink plenty of water.
