The Sirtfood Diet is the latest nutritional trend that promises to shed pounds without sacrificing treats like wine, coffee, or chocolate. But what is this weight loss diet all about?

What is the Sirtfood diet?

“Sirt” is short for sirtuin, which is a group of proteins that protect the body from stress. They ensure that the cell metabolism is reduced to the back burner, which, according to scientific studies, in turn slows down the aging process. Also burn fat, prevent cravings and build muscle – so it’s no wonder they’re also known as the ‘slim genes’.

The Sirtfood diet is divided into three phases based on the amount of calories in each.

  • The first phase lasts three days. During these days, you are allowed to consume a maximum of 1000 calories a day. In addition, three sirtuin-rich juices and one meal should be on the schedule.
  • The second phase follows. In this, up to 1500 calories a day are allowed – preferably from two juices and two meals. This phase should be followed until the desired weight is reached.
  • The third phase allows 1800 calories a day and is intended to ensure that the desired weight can be maintained for as long a period as possible. Ideally, as many sirtuin-rich foods as possible are included.
