What is Cardiac Diet?
This diet is an unofficial term for a heart-healthy diet. It is a plan that involves eating lots of nutrient-dense foods. It is designed for people who want to lose weight in a short period of time, within 3 days, and help control high cholesterol and unbalanced blood pressure.
Diet Rules
- Do not eat snacks between meals. The success of the diet depends on following the diet plan exactly.
- Drink plenty of water, at least half a liter a day. This somehow reduces hunger. In fact, it is very healthy.
Here is a sample meal plan for the 3-Day Cardiac Diet:
First day
Breakfast
- Coffee or tea (without sugar)
- Half a glass of juice or half a grapefruit
- 1 slice of toast
- 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
Lunch
- Coffee or tea (without sugar)
- half can of tuna
- 1 slice of toast
- 1 slice of cheddar cheese
Dinner
- 85 grams of lean meat
- 1 cup of string beans
- 1 cup of carrots and beets
- 1 small apple
- 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream
Second Day
Breakfast
- Coffee or tea (without sugar)
- 1 egg
- 1 slice of toast
- half a banana
Lunch
- Coffee or tea (without sugar)
- 1 large slice of cottage cheese or half a can of tuna
- 5 saltine crackers
Dinner
- 2 beef sausages
- 1 cup kale or broccoli
- ½ cup of carrots or radishes
- half a banana
- Half a cup of vanilla ice cream
Third day
Breakfast
- Coffee or tea (without sugar)
- 5 saltine crackers
- 1 slice of cheddar cheese
- 1 small apple
Lunch
- Coffee or tea (without sugar)
- 1 fully cooked egg
- 1 slice of toast
Dinner
- A can of tuna
- 1 cup beans or cauliflower
- 1 cup of carrots or green beans
- 1 slice of melon
- Half a cup of vanilla ice cream.

Breakfast:

Toast: Rice cake, whole grain cereal, saltine crackers, tortilla
Peanut butter: almond butter, soy butter, hummus, or other seed or nut butter
Lunch:
Coffee or tea: green tea, unsweetened hot cocoa
Tuna: chicken, cottage cheese, almonds, tofu, or pumpkin seeds.
Toast: Rice cakes, whole grain cereal, saltines, tortilla.
Dinner:
Meat: Beans, tofu, portobello mushrooms.
Green beans: spinach, tomatoes, lettuce or other green vegetables
Ice cream: Fruit yogurt, frozen yogurt, applesauce
Banana: kiwis, apricots, grapes
Apples: grapes, zucchini, peas, apricots, peaches or plums.
Alternative foods for the second day
For breakfast
Coffee or tea: green tea, unsweetened hot chocolate
Hard boiled eggs: scrambled eggs, nuts, chicken, two slices of bacon or seeds
Toast: Rice cake, whole grain, saltine crackers, tortilla
Banana: kiwi, apricot, grapes
For Lunch
Coffee or tea: green tea, unsweetened hot cocoa
Cottage cheese: ricotta or cheddar, Greek yogurt, sliced ham
Saltine crackers: regular toast, rice cakes, whole grain cereal
For dinner
Hot Dog: Meat, sausage, bratwurst, soy, bean, turkey, tofu, veggie
Banana: kiwi, apricot, grapes
Broccoli: Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, asparagus, cabbage, beets
For the third day
You can eat the Heart Diet substitutes in the same way as the menu on days one and two.
