natural home remedies to get rid of bad underarm odor

Don’t worry, there are many natural and effective ways to take care of this and you don’t have to spend a lot of money or wasted more on deodorants that don’t work for you.

If you just want to replace your deodorant with natural solutions or you are looking to remove bad underarm odor that is not excessive, these natural remedies will help you a lot and you can easily prepare them at home:

1. Baking soda

Baking soda on the skin can be a great ally for odor control and in this case it will not fail you.

We recommend having a small bottle with baking soda in your bathroom to apply it after you get out of the shower, when you have dried well.

Take a little bit with your finger and apply it directly to your armpits. Let it soak in while you apply cream or do something else and then apply the deodorant.

2. Lemon

Underarms accumulate sweat combined with the deodorant you put on in the morning, and so on for months, no matter how well they are carved when you bathe. That may be one of the reasons for your underarm odor, and it has nothing to do with your personal hygiene.

To help your body get rid of the accumulated sweat and deodorant that has been lingering in your pores, clean your underarms with lemon. Every morning, before bathing, wipe half a lemon under your armpits.

From the first day you will feel how much cleaner your skin is. Do this EVERY day because you will be removing any residue that has been trapped in your pores during the day. But remember to always do it before bathing to rinse the area well and avoid exposing it to the sun.

3. Alum stone

Alum stone is a natural deodorant that controls odor. It is 100% natural, odorless, does not stain clothes and costs 20 pesos at the most.

To apply it you have to wet it a little and then take it directly on your skin (or on the soles of your feet, it also works to fight foot odor), and let it dry.

It does not irritate the skin and it feels like you are just applying water, it doesn’t really have any sensation at all. Another advantage is that it lasts a long time… One bar of the ones sold in the drugstore lasts for 1 year when applied daily.

4. Goodbye fabric softener forever

Fabric softeners sit on the surface of clothing fibers and prevent air flow and evaporation. This means your skin and underarm isn’t getting the air it needs to keep odor-causing bacteria at bay.

It also makes it harder for the detergent to penetrate the fibers and remove sweat, bacteria and body odors. Fabric softeners can also irritate the skin.

5. Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is naturally acidic and has antimicrobial properties, so it neutralizes the environment in the underarm area and destroys smelly bacteria.

Using apple cider vinegar regularly can help prevent bacteria from building up in the underarms, just dip absorbent cotton in a small bowl of apple cider vinegar and apply it to the underarms twice a day.

6. Homemade deodorant

Prepare a homemade deodorant of three ingredients, you will need:

  • Baking soda
  • Cornstarch
  • Tea tree oil

As we explained in this other article, tea tree oil is a natural disinfectant and multiple studies have shown that it kills various bacteria that could be causing odor.

To prepare this natural deodorant:

  1. Mix ¼ cup of baking soda with just over ¼ cup of cornstarch.
  2. Add 10 drops of tea tree oil.
  3. This deodorant is different because it is applied with a cotton ball and you can shake it off afterwards (just before getting dressed).
